The Microsoft Windows NT operating system was stable and
feature-rich, but it became a favorite target for writers of computer worms and
viruses. Unable to guarantee the security of the product even after
application of patches to make it secure, Microsoft discontinued support for
Windows NT; many major anti-virus vendors followed suit. As a result,
Windows NT is no longer a secure platform for today's internet-enabled computer
applications.
